Space Micro’s S-Band radio, µSTDN, has now surpassed four years of operation in space on NASA’s Interface Region Imaging Spectrograph (IRIS) program. Launched on June 28, 2013 from Vandenberg Air Force Base on an Orbital Pegasus XL Rocket, this radio was initially supplied for a two-year mission.The mission has since been extended and the radio continues to operate flawlessly after four years. Space Micro receives periodic status reports from NASA on its performance. As of 2015, IRIS and Space Micro’s radio have completed over 10,000 orbits and temperature cycles.
