Symétrie: Precision Motion Systems for Space Applications
When developing and qualifying space technologies, maximum mechanical precision is a decisive factor for success. Symétrie, a French specialist in motion systems, designs and manufactures high-precision hexapods for positioning tasks with six degrees of freedom. These systems enable the precise movement of components, sensors, or entire instruments in the micro- and even nanometer range.
“The Hexapod is used for precise positioning – for some microns positioning in the six degrees of freedom. The resolution could go up to 50 nanometers to position something really precise in space,” explains Alexis Arcana, Sales & Marketing Manager at Symétrie.
The technology is based on six synchronously operating actuators that move a mobile platform in all directions. This enables test setups that can accurately reproduce orbital conditions. The product range extends from compact systems for a few kilograms to robust structures capable of carrying several tons.

This flexibility is particularly relevant for space testing: from optical calibrations and vibration simulations to the precise alignment of satellite components – Symétrie’s hexapods allow for repeatable, high-resolution movements with maximum stability.
With this level of engineering precision, Symétrie contributes to the European qualification of space systems at the highest level.
We look forward to continuing inspiring discussions on innovative testing systems and precision mechanics at Space Tech Expo Europe 2025 – including with companies like Symétrie and other players in the Hi-Rel ecosystem.
