Two platforms to maximise flexibility.

The 12U-Smallsat and the Free-Form-Microsat, which can accommodate payloads of up to 130 kg, are U-Space's two main products. Both platforms have a modular design and are optimised for constellations - i.e. the simultaneous operation of several satellites for high-resolution, continuous data coverage.

As Mourad Fakhfakh, Bid Manager at U-Space, explains: ‘These satellites have the platform part over there, and here we can have a flexible payload format that can include any instrument the constellation operator would like to sit on these satellites.’
This flexibility is crucial in order to be able to quickly integrate different payloads - cameras, sensors, communication modules or scientific experiments.

Rapid integration and independence in Europe.

The modular design, standardised interfaces and in-house production contribute significantly to reducing the development and integration times of U-Space. Nowadays, missions that previously took several years can be realised in just a few months. Two launches are already planned for the coming quarter - an important milestone for the growing European smallsat portfolio.

At the same time, U-Space is contributing to Europe's technological autonomy. The company is developing a European alternative for constellation operators, research institutions and industrial partners in a market that has so far been dominated by US platforms.

A wide range of possible applications

The satellites from U-Space are suitable for a wide range of tasks.

  • Earth observation and environmental monitoring
  • Communication networks in low-Earth orbit
  • Technology demonstrations
  • Security and defence applications

With this range of possibilities, U-Space supports the growing demand for flexible, efficient and rapidly available space systems.

Future prospects: Space Tech Expo Europe 2025

At Space Tech Expo Europe 2025, U-Space will present the latest platforms and mission results. The focus will be on dialogue with partners and customers about the future of modular satellite architectures and the role of European manufacturers in the global NewSpace context.
