Positronic Hermetics is a flange equipped with circular feedthroughs and D-Sub connectors on both sides, designed for use with thermal vacuum chambers. These chambers simulate space conditions, including pressure and temperature, to test satellite functionality. Electrical connections are required to monitor the satellite and ensure reliable data protection. The satellite is connected using its original connectors, while the cables are routed outside the chamber through the flange. A specialized sealing process using NASA-approved epoxy resin ensures a secure and reliable seal. The D-Sub connectors withstand thermal vacuum conditions, enabling dependable data transmission. One flange is required for each satellite.

The configuration of the HIVAC® Connector requires three separate units in order to function properly. The central unit is the feedthrough unit. This feedthrough requires two adapter units, one for the atmospheric side and one for the vacuum side. Both sides of the feedthrough contain four threaded holes and an O-ring groove and always has female/female contacts.

XAVAC is a larger connector than SAVAC with four retaining screws. There are four threaded holes, an O-ring groove and fixed socket screws on both sides.

SAVAC is a smaller connector than XAVAC with two retaining screws. Both sides contain two threaded holes (socket screws) and an O-ring groove.

Positronic Hermetics is a flange with circular feedthroughs and D-Sub connectors adapted on both sides, which is required for the thermal vacuum chamber. In such a chamber, the environmental conditions in space are simulated (pressure and temperature) and the satellites are tested for various functionalities, which must be monitored electrically for optimum data protection.

With press-fit technology, connectors are pressed onto a printed circuit board (PCB) using appropriately dimensioned through-hole plating without damaging the PCB or the connectors.
