Maximum stability and reliability: Exxelia presents high-performance silver dipped mica capacitors for RF, military and aerospace applications

Recently, our manufacturer, Exxelia, presented four new series of silver dipped mica capacitors designed for RF (radio frequency), military and aerospace applications. These demonstrate the versatility and durability of silvered mica capacitors as customised solutions for critical applications requiring the highest levels of precision and reliability. Examples of such applications can be found in the military, aerospace, medical and instrumentation industries.

Mica capacitors and mica dielectric capacitor technology

Compared to other capacitor technologies, mica capacitors offer exceptional stability and reliable performance without unwanted characteristics. This is why they are used in a wide range of applications. Especially when used in critical environments, they are able to maintain constant electrical properties over a long period of time even with high temperature fluctuations.

This is due to mica, a natural mineral insulator with excellent dielectric properties. These properties make it ideal for use in long-life, highly stable capacitors with low losses at all frequencies and high dielectric strength. This type of capacitor is therefore used in high-frequency and delay line applications, as well as in resonant circuits, emission devices and calibrators.

Exxelia's silvered mica capacitors have been designed in accordance with strict military standards. Particular attention was paid to performance, stability, precision and reliability. Consequently, they effortlessly fulfil the critical requirements of the aerospace and defence industries, as well as modern high-frequency technology. Thanks to their high Q-factor (Quality factor), these capacitors reduce energy losses and significantly improve efficiency, particularly in RF applications.

Supporting rated voltages of up to 1 kV DC and operating temperatures of up to +150 °C, these capacitors are designed for extreme environmental conditions. Exxelia also enables customised designs that can be precisely tailored to specific technical requirements and ensures long-term product availability without component obsolescence.

CMR Series Mica Capacitors (High reliability / High precision)

Designed and manufactured in accordance with MIL-PRF-39001, the CMR Series Mica Capacitors offer precision and reliability. Ideal for RF applications, they have a high Q-factor and ensure minimal energy loss and consistent performance, even under extreme conditions. They have a capacitance range of 1–12,000 pF, a rated voltage of up to 500 V and an operating temperature range of -55 °C to +150 °C, and are designed for environments where optimal performance is essential.

CA Series Mica Capacitors (High reliability / High precision)

The CA Series Mica Capacitors boast exceptional performance in high-reliability applications, offering capacitance values ranging from 0.005 nF to 0.1 µF and rated voltages of up to 1 kV. They also feature a high quality factor (Q-factor) and low Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR). These features make the CA Series ideal for RF and microwave applications. They also operate in temperature ranges from -55 °C to +125 °C, enabling exceptional performance and minimised energy losses even under the most demanding conditions.

MF Series Mica Capacitors (High reliability / High precision)

The MF Series Mica Capacitors is the last one in the High Reliability and High Precision range. In addition to the other series, it offers a highly reliable solution designed for precision in critical applications. Thanks to their compact design and reliable performance, they are a proven choice for precision technologies and offer capacitance values ranging from 4.7 pF to 33 nF and rated voltages of up to 1 kV. Like the other series, they are characterised by excellent temperature stability and a high quality factor, making them particularly suitable for RF systems and sensitive measuring devices.

MF Series Mica Capacitors

CM Series Mica Capacitors (High temperature)

Designed for applications requiring robust endurance at elevated temperatures, CM Series Mica Capacitors can operate at temperatures of up to +150 °C and comply with MIL-C-5 standards. Combining exceptional thermal stability with capacitance values ranging from 200 pF to 12,000 pF and rated voltages of up to 500 V, they are ideal for use in a variety of applications.  Thanks to their low dielectric losses, they are used in sectors such as aerospace and defence, where resilience in harsh environments is essential.

  • Rated Voltage: Up to 1.5 kV
